I-35 Makeover

Austin, Texas

Large, multi-lane freeway projects were constructed in many cities in the U.S. during the creation of the National Highway System. Our firm was asked by neighborhood groups to develop a project which would both correct some of the negative aspects of a particular overpass and crossing, and address some of the complex political and cultural conditions that the freeway has attracted over the years. This project is intended to refocus attention on the impact that large infrastructural projects have on local communities by intervening in the existing relationship at a major crossing.
